A Student’s Multimedia Portfolio: Connor Boals

December 2, 2009

If you’re looking for some great student journalism, please check out, the WordPress-format blog of Connor Boals, last year’s managing editor at the University of Vermont‘s student newspaper, The Vermont Cynic.

Connor, now a graduate student at the prestigious Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City, is one of the finest reporters to come through the Cynic newsroom in the past several years, with work ranging from sensitive and professional hard-news coverage of last year’s unprecedented number of UVM suicides to a first-person account of the Obama inauguration in Washington, D.C.

His blog shows him to be growing by leaps and bounds as a journalist, doing both old-school newspaper-style reporting and multimedia stories as well.

Then there’s the blog itself—a great example of how to showcase your work online, especially for those of you who are looking to build multimedia portfolios. (And, if you’re one of my students, then, yes, this includes you!)

Happy reading!
